At Trinity, we believe that making is more than a method — it’s a mindset.
Our upcoming Professional Development Day on October 14 is built around this belief: when we create together, we grow together. Making to Learn invites faculty and staff to step into the creative process — to design, build, cook, write, and dance as pathways toward learning and connection.
Curated and designed by Emily Davis, Paul Pileggi, Kate Burton, Marsha Harris, and me, the day’s design is intentionally hands-on and heart-centered. With sessions like Crafting Connections: Friendship Bracelets for the Classroom, The Playlist Project, Knot Your Average Plant Holder, and Eye of the Tiger: Making Community Art, we’re exploring how creative expression can foster both professional growth and community belonging. Each workshop is led by our own talented Trinity educators — a reflection of the expertise and generosity that define our learning culture.
Between the making and the learning, there’s something even more powerful at play: relationship building. The process of creating — whether it’s macramé, watercolor, or collaborative art — invites us to slow down, connect, and see one another through a different lens. These moments of shared creativity remind us that teaching and learning are both deeply human acts.
This is professional learning that looks and feels like joy — that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and courage. We can’t wait to see what emerges when we all come together to make, learn, and grow.
